Winner of the first event last month, Ray Morgan (Hastings) retired from the first heat, but was back to his usual form in the second and third in both of which he was fastest.

The first event for the new Retro Rallycross category was judged a success with the competitors present enjoying the event and a high level of interest from fans and prospective competitors.

Retro Rallycross, the first series to offer a place to race historic cars in Rallycross will run its first event at Mallory Park on July 22, appearing alongside the MSA British Rallycross Championship.

Retro Rallycross has been created to meet a need at the other end of the scale. Accommodating cars that might elsewhere be classed as historic or classic, the Ripla Retro Rallycross Championship will provide a group of four events aimed at providing an opportunity for those with older cars to get out and have fun using them in Rallycross. Alongside two groups for Rallycross cars (pre-1982 and 1982-1987), there will be a category for Historic Rally Cars (complying with MSA regs).
