Retro Rallycross ChallengeThe 2015 Retro Rallycross Challenge gets underway this weekend at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire, on Mothering Sunday [March 15]. Continuing to run as a support category to the MSA British Rallycross Championship, the 2015 Retro Rallycross Challenge is building up to be a fantastic season for fans and drivers alike. Last season's winner of the wonderful John Button Memorial Trophy, Ray Morgan, heads the entry at Croft this weekend in his Ford Escort. Joining Morgan will be the popular Volkswagen Beetle of former Stock Hatch rallycross champion James Harrold, while local man Lance Foster will be hoping to continue his giant-killing antics in the iconic Green and White Mini Spares Mini. He will be joined by the similar machine of Stuart Bowes, who has rebuilt the former Mini of Mike Dresser over the winter months and will make his return to the sport at Croft. Ian Biagi will also be hoping to get his 2015 season off to a flying start in the familiar ex-Roy Clark Mini. In the newly re-branded Super Retro division, Scottish driver Dave Black will compete in his Vauxhall Astra, joined by Midlands racer Paul Smith in a Volkswagen Polo. Danny Greaves will make his Retro Rallycross debut at the event in a Mazda 323, while Darren Grimston will race the Vauxhall Nova he campaigned at the last event in 2014, also at Croft. Bill Watson had been hoping to run his replica Ford RS200 at Croft this weekend, having displayed the car at Croft last season with a fantastic response from fans, but with work still needed to be done, he will now focus on being ready for round two at Lydden Hill. Also unable to complete work in time for Croft are Terry and Neil Maynard. Terry was hoping to race his ex-John Sampson Triumph TR8, with Neil in a TR7. There are exciting things to come from the Maynard stable this season, as Terry is preparing the original Trevor Hopkins Ford RS200 with the intention of running in Retro Rallycross at the British Rallycross Grand Prix at Croft this October.
