Two world record prices were achieved at the Dorset Vintage and Classic Auctions Summer Sale, held on the 24th June. A highly successful day culminated in a 75% sale rate; a percentage which is the norm for DVCA sales. The star of the show was the 1959 Jaguar Mk IX Auto, which had been the subject of a £60,000 restoration and deservedly achieved a world record sale of £25,300. Restored to an exceptionally high standard, a stylish 1989 TVR Tasmin 400SE attracted a huge amount of attention and finally made a record £8140. An interesting and varied selection of motor cars and memorabilia were offered at the sale, held at the usual venue of the Gartell Light Railway, Yenston, near Templecombe in Somerset. A beautiful Jaguar Mk IV 1 ½ Litre Sports Saloon of 1947 vintage sold for £14,850 and a rare vintage c1926 Rhode 11/30 Tourer, in need of light recommissioning after storage, made £6380.

An iconic 1957 Austin-Healey 100/6, finished in the rare, original colour combination of Florida Green and Ivory, fetched £16,500. A 1993 Bentley Brooklands in beautiful order achieved its top estimate of £16,500. Just in time for the festival season and the summer ahead, a restored 1967 Volkswagen Kombi made the healthy price of £15,400 and a beautifully restored to original specification 1954 Triumph Speed Twin 5T 498cc motorcycle was purchased for £4180. Of the more practical, retro classics, a restored 1966 Triumph Herald Saloon sold for £2640 and a 1958 Wolseley 1500 Series 1, also in restored condition, made £4180. A selection of worthy restoration projects were offered at the sale; most notably, a potentially beautiful c1935 Mercedes-Benz Drophead Coupe which required a complete restoration, made £7920 and is off to its original home of Germany.Tags:,
