Kalinecki Gets Retro Rallycross Win

Greg KalineckiThe third Retro Rallycross event drew seven starters, Marc Griffin (Essex) joining the field with his lovingly recreated replica of John Taylor’s 1981 Ford Fiesta. Race wins were shared, Ray Morgan (Hastings) winning the first heat in his rear-drive Escort MkIII, before Lance Foster (Newcastle) grabbed the sceond in his Mini and Polish racer Greg Kalinecki topped the order in the third with his Lancia Delta Integrale. Rob Gibson (Leighton) led the final but retired his MG Metro 6R4 at the end of the first lap. Kalinecki picked up the lead, chased hard by Morgan and Foster. As the battle for second place intensified, Kalinecki was able to draw ahead of his rivals and took a clear win, Morgan holding off Foster for second place. Griffin took fourth ahead of Ian Biagi (Dumfries) who was fifth with his Mini. Barry Stewart (Uckfield) was a non-stater in the final after his Porsche 911 lost first gear.
