Crews Rev Up For The Season Opener At The AGBO Stages

IoMThe ‘old STAGER’ asphalt stage rally championship incorporating the Mini Sport Mini Challenge opens this weekend at Weston Park with the Paintworx AGBO Stages Rally. The event is made up of 10 stages over the day on the asphalt surface of the park. Running in the top ten will be Tony Robinson and Phil Clarke in the Porsche RSR with Jon Ford and Peter Thomas in the RS2000 next up. Lee Sellars /Peter Alldread will take the trusty Triumph MK2 PI out on the stages with Lee looking to make a good start to retain his Cat three crown for 2016. Whilst Jack Anderson will be sat in with dad Stuart in the Vauxhall Chevette the pair will be looking to put past mechanical issues behind them. Andrew O’Hanlon/ Ryan Taylor will be looking to make a good start in the Cat two title fight in their little grey mini, alongside the other 19 minis taking part in the event, Other minis include Peter Horsburgh with Graham Carter sitting in the Mini Spares supported Mini, Shane Gamble/Bob Ward in a Morris mini Cooper ‘s’, and Anton Bird will be beside regular pilot of Clive King in the Mini Sport mini. Championship regulars Eric Davis/Russ Joseph, Adrian Kermode/Maurice Beckett, Peter Ellerby/Phil Swanborough will all be out competing in minis. The new open class for ‘classic’ Minis has has attracted four crews and will be lead away by Martin Melling and Carmel Venables. The event also sees the return of Geoff Taylor and Steve Greenhill in the Imp and they will be facing competiton in B1 Class from the new registration of Mathew and Dan Evans in their Imp and the 970 Mini cooper S of Ken Pryce. Many more competitors will add variety to the field including Gwilym Roberts/Debbie Myers in the Ford Lotus Cortina MKI, Simon Malins and Colin Tombs in their Firenza ,the Marina of Trevor Godwin and Ian Harrop and the Lancia Fulvia of Doug and Mike Harrison. Former BHRC championship competitors John Worthing and John Cadwallader and Dick Mauger and Steve McNulty will be out in their Ford Escorts. 32 HRCR Registered crews will be out on the event. This is best ever turnout of ‘old STAGER’ crews to the to take part in an event.Tags:, ,
