HSCC’s Classic Formula 3 Championship

Contenders in the Historic Sports Car Club’s Classic Formula 3 Championship will add an overseas date to the 2013 schedule with a pair of races at Spa-Francorchamps over the weekend of 15/16 June.   For the weekend, British competitors will join up with their French counterparts to share a grid at the fabulous Belgian Grand Prix venue. The two series have previously shared grids on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit during the HSCC Historic Super Prix.   “We have up to 20 slots available on the grid at Spa and we anticipate a very strong response from competitors,” said Grahame White, CEO of the HSCC. “The French championship regularly gets around 25 cars, so we are expecting a grid of between 40 and 50 cars. It will be one of the biggest Classic F3 grids ever seen.”   To celebrate a weekend of cross-channel co-operation, a special Nations’ Cup will be run across the two races for several teams of three cars from each country. The winning team will earn a special trophy and a magnum of champagne.   The HSCC’s Classic Formula 3 Championship is for cars originally built and raced between 1971 and 1984, and covers both the 1600cc and 2-litre era of F3 racing. The championship also has classes for Formula Ford 2000s and water-cooled Formula Super Vees.   For more details about the HSCC, please visit www.hscc.org.ukTags:, ,
