BMC & Leyland showVisitors can once again celebrate a host of British cars when the Heritage Motor Centre hosts the nostalgic ‘BMC & Leyland Show’ on Sunday 6 July. The show was launched in 2013 to celebrate the fantastic marques that were part of the pre BMC related manufacturers, The British Motor Corporation, British Leyland, and the Rover group as well as commercial and military vehicles. Last year’s show proved incredibly popular and this year’s show looks set to be the same. The show is expected to attract 80 different marques including names such as Daimler, Alvis, Wolseley, Austin, Morris, Riley, Standard, MG and Land Rover. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Austin Morris 1800 and up to 40 plus models are hoped to be on display. 2014 is also the 30th Anniversary of the Austin Montego and visitors will be given the chance to see the last Montego that came off the production line on display within the Museum. As well as up to 800 models on show, there will also be an Autojumble and motoring related trade stands. A show highlight will enable visitors to see 6 different vehicles from the reserve collection that are not normally on display in the Museum. The show will also feature the traditional Mini Concours with a £100 cash prize for the winner. Plus there will be the traditional Cowley convoy from BMW Mini Cowley arriving at Gaydon at 11am. Tom Caren, Show Manager at the Heritage Motor Centre stated “Due to the success of last year’s show, we are really pleased to be hosting our second ‘BMC and Leyland Show’ which looks set to be even bigger and better than before with more owners club entries this year.  The show is a real enthusiast’s event aimed at enthusiasts celebrating our iconic British marques.
