The pick of a very fine selection is the 1929 Grand Prix Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport, registration UV 819. In common with the 1750 SS (UU 79) that H&H sold for a record-breaking £503,000 in March, this much rarer 1500 SS was entered for the 1929 Irish Grand Prix by the UK concessionaire F W Stiles.

They ranged in price from £40,700 for a 1958 Jaguar XK150 SE Drophead Coupe to £700 for a 1984 Jaguar XJS Coupe (what a lot of car for the money!), and in age from the 1926 Swift 10HP QA Sports (£9,570) to a 1992 Bentley Turbo RL (£13,200).

It also saw the highest price so far paid for a car at an H&H auction, with the 1929 Irish Grand Prix winning Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport fetching £503,000 – a mere £6,000 more than the ex-Jim Clark 1962 Lotus 25, which itself had claimed that record earlier in the same sale!
