image001Former British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan has become the latest star name to confirm his participation in the 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting on March 21-22. Jordan, 25, will share a 1979-spec Patrick Motorsport-liveried Mini 1275 GT, prepared by Swiftune, in the Gerry Marshall Trophy, which is held in honour of the tin-top cult hero and will feature Group 1 production saloons of 1970-82. His co-driver will be car entrant Nick Swift, who brilliantly beat a plethora of more powerful Rover SD1s, Ford Capris and Chevrolet Camaros to finish fourth overall in the Gerry Marshall Trophy at last year’s 72nd Members’ Meeting with Jason Stanley. Although this will be Jordan’s Members’ Meeting debut, the Midlands driver has competed at Goodwood before and appeared at the Revival Meeting twice; most notably last year, when he raced an Austin A40 to second in the St Mary’s Trophy at the Revival with his father Mike. Red Bull Athlete Jordan confirmed last week that he will switch from his family’s Eurotech Honda team to the Triple Eight-run works MG squad as he seeks to add another BTCC crown to the one he claimed in 2013. Jordan joins fellow star drivers Steve Soper, Rob Huff, Jochen Mass, Anthony Reid, Nicolas Minassian, Emanuele Pirro, Rob Austin and Patrick Watts as confirmed for the event. The Members’ Meeting recreates the relaxed and intimate culture of club racing at Goodwood in the 1950s and ‘60s, with access-all-areas for all visitors and Goodwood’s largest-ever party on the Saturday night, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. Among the on-track highlights will be high-speed demonstrations of more than 20 high-airbox Formula 1 cars of the early-1970s and a race exclusively for pre-1967 Porsche 911s. Andrew Jordan said: “I had a terrific time at the 2014 Goodwood Revival racing the A40 with my dad, and having one of the most enjoyable battles of my life with Emanuele Pirro and Anthony Reid. I get such a buzz out of driving an historic car, with tiny tyres, right on the limit, and given what the Swiftune Minis achieved last year at the Members’ Meeting, I think Nick and I can be right at the sharp end again. I can’t wait.”Tags:, ,
