HISTORIC F1 RACERS REV UP FOR BRANDS HATCH

Brands Hatch will reverberate to the sounds of historic Formula One cars at the Autoglym HSCC Historic Festival on June 28th and 29th. Headlining the event, and bringing the memories flooding back to this great circuit, is the FIA Historic Formula One Championship, which will see F1 cars from 1966 to 1985 take to the track, these unique pieces of motor racing history battling as closely as they did in their heyday. The weekend’s packed programme of support races will also evoke thoughts of grids of the past. Single-seaters of all shapes and sizes from Formula Junior up to Formula Three will be in action in their own races, while thundering 5-litre Formula 5000 cars, along with F2 and Formula Atlantic, will take to the circuit together for the Derek Bell Trophy races. The awesome 8-litre CanAm sportscars of the Orwell Supersports Cup return to Brands with McLaren, Lola and Chevron sports- racers, while classic saloons and sportscars will also be out in force: Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar, MG, Ford, Triumph and Morgan are just some of the marques taking part. The Autoglym Festival is also the highpoint of the year’s celebration of 50 years of Formula Junior, with separate races for each of the three eras of the formula. Gathered together will be the biggest ever entry of FJ cars together with a party for ‘anciens pilotes’ from the 1950s and ’60s. Lunchtime track demonstrations will showcase other favourite racers from the past, while the ever-popular ‘drifting’ display will see even more rubber burned than in the races themselves. And when not out on track, this priceless line-up will be in the open paddock, allowing spectators to wander around their own motor sport ‘museum’, complete with the sights, sounds and smells of the glory days of racing (Castrol R, anyone?). As well as offering highly entertaining historic racing and a good dose of nostalgia, the Autoglym HSCC Historic Festival provides fun for all the family – including free entertainment for children. Even if classic racing isn’t their thing, the youngsters will find more than enough to keep themselves amused in the Kids’ Super Inflatable Fun City, featuring the largest fun inflatable in Europe, Jungle Play Centre, Penalty Football Shoot-Out and interactive Basketball.Tags:, ,
