email100516With just over a month to go until the 2016 DMACK Carlisle Stages (Saturday 11 June), the first 40 entries are already in and the organisers are expecting a run of entries after this weekend’s Plains Rally. The rally is a round of the Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series, the MSA English Rally Championship, the BTRDA Rally Challenge, the S G Petch Association of North East and Cumbria Car Clubs Stage Rally Championship, the Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship and the Association of Northern Car Clubs Forest Challenge. The route will feature just eight miles of double-used stages and the route has been designed to limit the double-usage to the strongest forest roads. In response to competitor feedback from the 2015 rally, the Chamot Hill stage will not be used. No roads used on the recent BRC-based Carlisle Rally are being used and none of the roads on the DMACK Carlisle Stages have been used since the 2015 event. “Entries are coming in very well and we’re expecting a lot more after the Plains Rally,” said Clerk of the Course Nicola Heppenstall. “We started 126 cars last year and we hope to at least match that number this year.” With continued title sponsorship from DMACK, the event offers 42 stage miles in the Kershope and Newcastleton complexes. A shakedown stage is available before documentation starts on Friday. The route includes two stages of more than 13 miles in length. The entry is £480, reducing to £430 for Rally First contenders. The Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club event will be based at the premises of H&H Auctions in Carlisle, close to junction 43 of the M6. The first car will start at 8am on Saturday and return to the finish at around 2.30pm. Scrutineering and documentation will run from 2pm until 7pm on Friday afternoon. The DMACK Carlisle Stages will be organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club. Event regulations are available from www.racrally.org Tags:,
