Celebrate Collector Car Appreciation Month With These Classic Events

Around the world, July has been designated as Collector Car Appreciation Month. This means that during the month of July, many nations and organizations are celebrating the role that automotive restoration plays across the world and putting on events to raise awareness for the importance of restoration and keeping classic cars on the road. The United Kingdom is one of the nations that is taking part in this historic month of renewal and celebration, so if you’re a classic car buff that’s looking for a way to celebrate or participate, then check out one of these UK events.

10th Old Ford Rally at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire

Ford was one of the pioneers of car manufacturing and has given way to many of the mass-produced vehicles we see on the roads today. Therefore, the British Motor Museum is paying homage to the cars that started it all. The Old Ford Rally is the largest old Ford event in the UK and features 400 pre-1990 Ford cars. You’ll see a large range of Model T’s, pre-and post-World War cars, and some vehicles you may not have even seen before. Throughout the event, there will be an autojumble and an arena with live displays and commentaries. As a guest at the rally, you will also have full access to the British Motor Museum, the Collections Centre, and the Car S.O.S exhibit.

CarFest North at Bolesworth Castle Estate

If your entire family loves the car scene, then this festival is for you. The CarFest is a car-themed family event that raises money for BBC Children in Need. This year, it will be held in Chesire from July 27th to the 29th and in Hampshire from August 24th to the 26th. Here, you can see a parade of classic cars from around the world. However, this year’s special will be the enormous display of German cars set around a Bavarian beer hall. You’ll enjoy classic German music and entertainment while your eyes feast on the glorious cars on display. If you head to the Vintage Village, you can also check out vintage market traders and cars from the 1930s to the 1970s.

Goodwood Festival for Speed in Sussex

We’ve all seen stunt drivers and race car stars on the screen, but now you can see them up close and personal. The Goodwood House in Sussex is holding the Festival for Speed from 12 July to 15 July. During this event, you’ll see old cars coming together with new and future cars to zoom through off-road courses and paddocks. You may be surprised by what some of the old classic cars can do on the course. Then, be sure to grab some food and drinks and enjoy the estate’s crazy sculpture made of some of your favorite cars.

Your Own Conservation Efforts

While we’re having fun at these events, it’s important that we also recognize our own conservation efforts. In the United Kingdom, many of the old classic cars are disappearing off the roads. Therefore, the country needs to do its part to save them. Be sure to protect your classic car by properly storing it, obtaining the right insurance, and tuning it up every once in a while. You should also take your car out of the driveway and onto the roads during the month of July. This will keep your gas from becoming stale and show off the vehicle to everyone on the streets.

So, get out on the road and enjoy some of these events this July. You and the family will have lots of fun while supporting a great cause.
